The LORD said to Moses, “Depart; go up from here, you and the people whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give it.’”

“I have good news and bad news.” That usually means you will say, “Yay!”, followed by, “Oh no!” In any event, the result is usually net zero. This is not so in the case of these words from God to Moses. This is the glorious promise given to Abraham way back in Genesis 12. God’s promise-keeping track record is perfect. This is no exception, of course. Yet, the people were in despair. That is because of the bad news. Due to their idolatry, the small matter of a golden calf, God would not go with them as they left Mount Sinai. Fortunately, this would be temporary. They would enter the land of milk and honey and be God’s people, and he would be their God. The really good news is they would not be destroyed on the spot, which God would have been right to do.

There is bad news and good news. The bad news is that man is fallen and the world is broken. The Good News is that Jesus Christ came to earth to set the foundation for a new one where bad news will not be heard. He laid this foundation when he laid down his life as a ransom for this stiff necked people; you and me. God would be right to destroy us but for this one thing; he promised to never leave us or forsake us. Believe in the Lord Jesus and this can be true for you to. Pass this along. Tell them…

I have Good News!
