But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, “Tell these things to James and to the brothers.” Then he departed and went to another place.

“Wait until you hear this!” When you hear that, you had better hear something amazing, especially when someone demands the attention of all in attendance first. Peter did not disappoint. The church was in hiding because of the martyrdom of James, the brother of John, and the imprisonment of Peter. This was scary stuff for the first century church. For the first time in the church’s existence, its lack of existence was on the table. There seemed little hope of seeing Peter again. Until they did. Comically, Rhoda couldn’t believe it and left him outside! What a story he had to tell them!

What a story you have to tell the world! That is, if you have met the risen Lord Jesus Christ and have had your life changed by his forgiveness and grace. Peter’s miraculous escape is dramatic but no more so than a life spent in darkness suddenly entering into the light of Jesus. Someone needs to hear that story today. There is someone who has lost hope in this world of pandemic, division and fear. There is someone who thinks they are doing just fine. That is, until they find themselves in a similar situation as Peter and need deliverance. Go on a prayer walk today, praying for each house or business you pass along the way. Pray for the Lord to allow you an opportunity to say, “Listen up!” Pray for the boldness to tell them what happened to you. Describe to them…

How the Lord brought you out of prison.
