Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the LORD lives, the man who has done this deserves to die, 6 and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.”
7 Nathan said to David, “You are the man!”
If you read yesterday’s devotional, you saw the pitfalls of caring more about appearances than reality. King David looked great on paper. His approval numbers were through the roof. He was a conquering hero. Sure, he had some faults, adultery, lying, murder, but overall, Israel was doing well so David was in good shape. David may have fallen into the trap that says our personal lives are our business and as long as you are doing good things, a little vice is okay. Then David heard the story from Nathan and became indignant. Such people deserve death. Right here is where David has his Isaiah 6 moment. He heard these words. “You are the man!”
We can picture David at that moment saying, “Woe is me! I am a man of unclean lips!”
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow or join us on YouTube Live and learn how we are like David and Isaiah. We will see ourselves differently as a direct result of our knowing God. Before we knew God, we may have seen our sins as our business. We will find out that…
You are the man!
