Isaiah 6:8-9
8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” 9 And he said, Go…
Isaiah was just a regular person like you, walking along, when he saw the Lord in all his splendor sitting on his throne. Imagine that! What would you be thinking? Because his own sin became obvious before the throne, Isaiah thought this was the end of him and the unfaithful Israelites. I think you would too. Instead, God sent a seraphim with a burning coal to purge the sin from Isaiah. This pleased Isaiah quite a bit so that when God asked who will go, Isaiah stepped forward.
Isaiah 6 became my life passage decades before I ever left Berks County PA. See if the sequence of events in my life and in the call of Isaiah sounds familiar to you. I was minding my own business when the Lord showed himself to me. I saw his majesty and suddenly saw my sin. I lost hope of being good enough in the presence of God. Then I realized that I had been forgiven, not in the fashion that Isaiah was, but by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. The obvious question was “What do I do now?” Jesus says “go” about 100 times just in Matthew. What do you think? Do you think that means we should go? In these weird times, that is difficult but not impossible with technology like Zoom. Like Isaiah, have you seen the splendor of the King? Have you fallen on your knees? Have you seen the forgiveness given us on the cross? If not, when Jesus returns, you won’t be saying, “Here I am!” you will want to hide but you will be unable to. If you are gonna go, go now…
See the risen Lord today.
God Bless,
Pastor Boyer
